ISE Congress Makerere University, 1 - 7 August 2016

Dear colleagues, we are glad to welcome you to the 15th congress to be hosted by Makerere University Kampala in collaboration with the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology and Buganda Kingdom from 1-7, August 2016. The tagline for this congress is “together keeping continuity from our roots”. This emphasizes the need for special efforts to be taken to learn from our cultural heritage and knowledge in order to improve livelihoods now and in the future.
The Congress theme
The main theme is: “Ethnobiological knowledge for improved human well-being and development”
Subthemes
The subthemes range from indigenous knowledge systems in food security, medicine and practices in resource use and manage-ment tied to education, scientific research and their blending for well-being and development options. Below are some of the sub-themes:

Congress Content
The congress will be interactive and will consist of workshops, papers and poster presentations.
There will also be unconventional sessions including exhibitions, and practical cultural experience sessions showcasing Uganda’s rich culture.
We invite you to Uganda the pearl of Africa and we look forward to your participation and contribution.
The call for papers, sessions and individual contributions will be made in August 2015.
