The Department of Philosophy at Dalhousie University is pleased to announce a one year MA fellowship worth $15,000 for a student working in Animal Philosophy, starting September 2017. The fellowship is funded under the SSHRC-supported grant Chimpopolis: Science, Society, and the Philosophical Animal and the MA fellow will be expected to pursue a course of study that includes Animal Philosophy and develop an MA thesis that fits under the mandate of the grant, broadly construed. The person awarded the fellowship will also be offered a teaching assistant position for the fall and winter term worth $5,980.
The Master of Arts (MA) Program in Philosophy is for students who will have completed the four-year Canadian honours BA in philosophy or the equivalent. Students typically take three classes during each of the fall and winter terms, and write a thesis during the summer term following classes. Exceptional candidates with an honours degree, or equivalent, in a related field with substantial philosophy training may be considered for admission into the two-year program.
Details about the grant can be found at https://sites.google.com/site/chimpopolis/ and inquiries should be directed to Dr. Letitia Meynell (Letitia.Meynell@dal.ca).
