non-profit, accredited medical facility committed to providing reproductive
and abortion services with counselling, in a safe and confidential
community-based setting. The Clinic is a contracted agency with the
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority and is a member of the Health Employers
Association of BC (HEABC), operating within a unionized environment.
EBWC is seeking an Executive Director to lead the day-to-day operations of
the clinic.
You are an individual who displays exceptional operational leadership
ability as well as visionary thinking. Generally working autonomously, you
report to a Board of Directors and work closely with staff, the medical
director and community to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient
quality abortion services.
You will promote activities and services that comply with best practice
guidelines (National Abortion Federation, Ministry of Health) and regulating
professional bodies and legislation (College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC,
Health Professions Act of BC, HEABC, FOI, PIPA). You will be a strong
advocate of women’s reproductive choice, and support and develop services
that embody the elements of patient-centered care.
Your responsibilities will include financial and human resource management,
staff development, planning and implementing best practice principles across
all levels of care, participating in performance management and training
activities for staff, fund development and networking with community and
government agencies. Leading service development, planning activities,
monitoring quality outcomes and developing new financial/resource
strategies, also fall within the scope of the role. A solid understanding
of budgeting and human resources processes is required.
With a level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Masters
degree in Health/Business Administration or related field, plus five years
of progressively responsible experience in an interdisciplinary health care
setting, you have gained the expertise needed to direct our operations. Your
demonstrated analytical problem-solving ability and strong communication

meet the priorities of the Clinic. Furthermore, your proficiency in project
management to meet deadlines and adhere to budget guidelines will be
important. Your ability to lead a team and create a strong patient-centered
service supported by policy and procedures will ensure your success in this
role.
