[PAR-L] FWD: Call for Chapter Proposals: Feminist Perspectives in Children’s Culture
Canadian Scholars/Women’s Press is considering publishing a volume that will explore the emergent and intersectional area of children’s culture and feminism. The editor seeks chapter proposals that examine interdisciplinary work in the study of childhood using feminist epistemologies, methodologies and pedagogies. Proposals should center childhood, as defined by the time from birth to adolescence, as the focus of inquiry while examining the possibilities of engaging a feminist perspective in classrooms, research, epistemology, and theory.
Possible areas for submission include but are not limited to:
Feminist Theory as applied to psychological, sociological, educational, or cultural issues in Childhood
Application of Feminist Theory or Feminist Pedagogy to Children’s Culture
Intersectional Pedagogies in Childhood Studies
The Application of Critical Theory (i.e.: Disability Studies, Critical Race Theory, Feminist Theory, Queer Theory, etc.) to Children’s Studies and Culture
Developmental Theory from a Feminist Perspective
Feminist and Ecofeminist Sustainability and Environmental Education for Children
Feminist Pedagogical Classroom Practices for Children
Embodied Learning for Children
Media Representation of Children
Black Girl Magic
Indigenous Experiences/Pedagogies of Childhood
Arts-based Research in Children’s Learning Spaces
Gender Studies in Children’s Culture
Alternative Learning and Teaching
Impacts and Implications of Immigration and DACA as related to Experiences of Childhood
Children’s Rights from a Feminist Perspective
Intersectional Study of Children’s Culture
The intended audience are undergraduate and graduate students in Education, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, and Cultural Studies throughout North America in universities and colleges. Authors are welcomed from North American universities and colleges, and we welcome co-authored chapters and proposals from both established and emerging scholars, including graduate students.
Length of abstract: 100-200 words. Deadline: March 25, 2018.
