The School of Veterinary Medicine (T&T) welcomes our new Director, Dr. Karla Georges.

WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINE MEET OUR NEW DIRECTOR - Dr. Karla Georges She is responsible for the overall administrative, managerial, teaching, scholarly and service portfolio of the veterinary school. Dr. Georges is also a member of the senior management team of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Dr. Georges has over 18 years’ experience in the area of veterinary public health and epidemiology and has been appointed as a resource person on several projects relevant to both human and animal health in the region. She is the first graduate of the FMS St Augustine Campus to be appointed as Director of the School. Dr. Georges served as Head, of Department of Basic Veterinary Sciences before her appointment as Director. She is currently a member of the steering committee of the Association of Institutes of Tropical Veterinary Medicine and was appointed Chair of the Tick and Tick Borne Diseases Working group for the Caribvet Network. She is active in research in tick borne zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety and ethnoveterinary medicine. Georges is a former UK Commonwealth Scholar and recipient of a NUFFIC award from the Netherlands Fellowship programme. OUR MISSION To produce well-trained, competent and versatile professionals who can practice all aspects of veterinary medicine in the Caribbean and in the wider world; and to develop a regional centre for diagnosis and research in animal (and human) health and disease control. OUR VISION International recognition through excellence in teaching, impactful research, compassionate service and outreach. The School of Veterinary Medicine is the only one in the English-speaking Caribbean offering a complete DVM programme at a single site. The School is equipped with modern teaching and research laboratories, which facilitate practical training, and research projects. Our Veterinary Hospital consists of small animal, farm animal and equine clinics as well as a number of diagnostic laboratories. Click here to see video svm
