International Society of Ethnobiology (ISE) seeking mentors

Dear colleagues of the International Society of Ethnobiology (ISE), The student representatives of the ISE are organising the pre-congress workshop for emerging ethnobiologists at the ISE Congress in Belém. The Congress will take place in the city of Belém from August 7-10, and the pre-congress workshop will be held in a number of traditional Amazonian communities near Belém the week prior. We are now seeking workshop mentors and members of the advisory committee to help carry out the workshop. ISE and SBEE members who are on the ground in Brazil would be especially helpful, as well as those who have experience running similar events. Workshop mentors don’t necessarily have to be part of the advisory committee, and vice versa, although it would be helpful if some are. We hope to find a diverse set of mentors and advisors, including academics of various research specialties, professionals with experience in NGOs, government agencies or ethics committees, and indigenous peoples. We will be seeking funding to pay travel expenses for mentors who are not funded by an institution. If you are interested in either or both roles, please respond to Jennie Harvey at jennie.harvey@canterbury.ac.uk and Michel Rapinksi at rapinski@gmail.com by Wednesday, November 15th. Please share this call widely on list-serves and social media, and contact us if you have questions. We looking forward to seeing you in Belém! Jennie and Michel ISE Student Representatives
