air miles scams the non- consumer

Welcome. You are number 5 in line. A specialist will be with you shortly.
Karl has joined the chat session.
Karl: Hello Cheryl, how may I assist you today?
CHERYLL: Hi Karl, I had over 600 miles and they have gone missing. They were not due to expire and in any case Air Miles said months ago they were not going to to take away miles.

Karl: I can definitely understand your worry and concern Cheryl and will be happy to look into this matter for you.

Karl: I do hope you are looking forward to the long weekend Cheryl and have some nice plans to celebrate the Easter Holiday.
CHERYLL: I thought I might be able to use my miles

Karl: Cheryl, I have checked your AIR MILES Account and can inform you that your Account is currently in "dormant" status. An AIR MILES Account automatically goes dormant when there has been no activity (earning, redeeming or transferring of Miles) on the Account for over 24 consecutive months or more. When an Account goes dormant, all AIR MILES from the Account are retired immediately.

Karl: On checking further, I see that your Account went dormant on December 4, 2016 and 616 AIR MILES were retired that day.

CHERYLL: So I have lost my miles?
Karl: I do want you to know that Dormancy is completely different from Expiry and you do have the option of re-issuing your dormant Miles for a fee of 15 cents plus taxes per Miles a service fee of $10 plus tax.
