Southern Association for the History of Medicine and Science-SAHMS. Our 16th annual meeting will be March 17-19, 2016 in Las Vegas and will be held at the University
of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Law.
SAHMS is composed
of a mixture of physicians, nurses, Ph.D.'s, and students, both graduate
and undergraduate, who work in the medical humanities. The Southern in
our name only relates to holding our annual
meeting south of the Mason-Dixon Line and does not in any way limit
paper topics-we are international in scope. SAHMS particularly welcomes
papers from graduate students and advanced undergraduate students who
would like the experience of presenting in this
friendly type of forum.

The Southern Association for the History of Medicine and Science (SAHMS) invites paper proposals for its sixteenth annual meeting on March 17-19, 2016, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Law.
The Southern Association for the History of Medicine and Science (SAHMS) invites paper proposals for its sixteenth annual meeting on March 17-19, 2016, at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Law.
SAHMS welcomes papers on the history of medicine and science,
broadly construed to encompass historical, literary, anthropological,
philosophical and sociological approaches to health care and science. This may also include papers focusing on
issue of race, disabilities and gender studies as they pertain to the history
of medicine and health care. Participants may propose individual papers or
panels of several papers on a particular theme.
Each presenter is limited to 20 minutes, with additional time for questions and discussion when possible. Please do not submit papers that have already been published, presented or scheduled for presentation at another meeting. All participants are responsible for their own travel expenses and must pay conference registration costs in advance of the meeting. A limited number of student travel awards are available each year; for more information click on “Student Travel Grant Guidelines” on the SAHMS website, http://www.sahms.net/ “Future Conferences” page. Students MUST follow these guidelines to be considered for these travel awards. Online submission will be available by August 10, 2015 at http://www.sahms.net/.
