Description
The Khasia (also known as the Khasi) tribe resides in Sylhet division, which comprises several districts and lies in the northeast part of Bangladesh. In Sylhet district, tribal communities can be found in Gowainghat, Kanairghat, and Jaintiapur subdistricts. According to the population census of 1991, the tribe numbered 12,280 persons.
