Morphing the three faces of Mona: The decision-making steps Leonardo used to create his Mona Lisa
Abstract
Computer-aided
techniques and morphing algorithms are used by the author in an
on-going effort to understand the decision-making processes Leonardo da
Vinci employed in creating his Mona Lisa. Previous investigations disclosed two Mona Lisas
Leonardo painted on the same panel [1, 2], but the actual steps
Leonardo used to metamorphosize the first model, Isabella, Duchess of
Aragon, into the celebrated Mona Lisa have remained unclear
until now. Current studies reveal the specific features of the first
model Leonardo changes, or combined with his own features to realize the
universally known Mona Lisa.
