New Westminster Community Connection Series


When: August 4, 2016 (Thursday), 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Where: Centennial Community Centre, 65 E Sixth Ave, New Westminster, BC V3L 4G6 (Map)
What: Panel discussion on Ageing with a Disability, refreshments, silent auction

Panelists:
  • Halldor Bjarnason, Barrister and Solicitor at Access Law Group, Former Director of Neil Squire Foundation and former National President of Canadian Cerebral Palsy Sports Association, Gold Medalist at the cycling event in the 1988 Seoul Summer Paralympic Games
  • Tammy Van der Kamp, Has taken advisory roles at Translink, GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, UBC Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, Bridges to the Future Program, and BC Alliance of Information and Referral Services, Former Family and Individual Support Worker at CPABC
  • Spring Rhodes, Practiced advocacy since the age of 10 doing presentations, assistance with reading and scribing, Former Disability Representative to the Student Union at the Vancouver Career College
  • Harry Cole, Disability advocate and mixed martial arts expert, Worked with youth on Granville Street in the 1980s
There will also be a presentation on CSIL from the Individualized Funding Resource Centre.
