A chance for you and your friends to earn a quick and easy £10

We are a team of Doctors and nurses based at Addenbrookes Hospital looking into why some people put on weight more easily than others.
Some people who are overweight lack a gene which makes them more likely to gain weight.
We would like to understand how a defect in a gene can stop it from working and lead to weight problems. Therefore in this study we are looking at taste and if people prefer certain types of food.
Alongside our patients we are also recruiting normal weight and overweight controls to help us with the study.
You will need to come to Addenbrookes hospital for less than an hour over lunch time (approx. 12pm-2pm). You will be asked to taste different foods and complete some questionnaires. You will receive £10 for your time and travel expenses will be reimbursed if within Cambridge.
If you are interested please reply to the following email address: sk788@medschl.cam.ac.uk and we can discuss your eligibility along with available dates and times.
Many thanks!
Sarah

RECRUITING HEALTHY OVERWEIGHT VOLUNTEERS AGED BETWEEN 16 AND 45, BMI OF 31 AND ABOVE.
We are a team of Doctors and nurses based at Addenbrookes Hospital looking into why some people put on weight more easily than others.
Some people who are overweight lack a gene which makes them more likely to gain weight. We would like to understand how a defect in a gene can stop it from working and lead to weight problems. These genes also influence how the body processes and stores the different fats that we eat in our diet which can lead to a high cholesterol level. We want to find out more about how this happens.
In this study, we want to look in depth and measure how people metabolise (or use up) stored body fat. We also want to measure how fats in the diet are absorbed from the gut and used by the body.
Alongside our patients we are also recruiting overweight controls to help us in this study.
You will need to come to Addenbrookes Hospital around 16:00 and stay overnight, finishing around 15:00 on the following day.
We will provide you with dinner on arrival and the following morning we would like to take some blood samples (from a cannula in your arm) before and then at regular intervals following breakfast.
After the test, we will provide you with some lunch and you will then be able to go around 15:00 at the latest.
We will reimburse travel expenses and you will receive £75 on completion of the study.
If you are interested please email sk788@medschl.cam.ac.uk and we can then assess eligibility and look into available dates/times.
Many Thanks,
Sarah
