Spanish language prize - Uriach Foundation of History of Medicine

 The Uriach Foundation 1838 award an annual and international prize in order to promote the studies about the History of the Medical Sciences. It will be awarded by the best study that research and analyze a subject about History of Health Science, according to the appointed Jury.

  1. The XLI Prize Uriach Foundation of History of Medicine of 2004 is set at 1500 Euro. Historians from any country can apply for it.
  2. The monographs shall be original and unpublished and will not be accepted those which would have been totally or partially published until the awarding date. Monographs submitted to other prizes, will not be accepted as well.
  3. The reports shall be submitted in electronic format, together with a printed copy with double spacing and no more than 75000 letters, with spaces, and including the bibliography and the additional iconography.
  4. The original reports, written in Spanish language, shall be submitted to our Foundation until the 15th October 2004. It shall be submitted in an envelope marked with the pseudonym of the author/s, without any personal information. The information about authors (not deducible from the bibliography) shall be introduced in a closed envelope marked with the pseudonym as well. The telephone number and the address will be written in the closed envelope.
  5. The Jury will award the XXXV Prize Uriach Foundation of History of Medicine. The decision of the Jury will be unappealable and it will be published during January 2005. If the Jury considers appropriate, a second prize of 300 Euro will be awarded.
  6. The prizewinning monograph/s will property of the Uriach Foundatio 1838, which will publish them in the journal “Medicine and History” (Medicina e Historia) if the Jury recommends it. In this case, the author/s will carried out the appropriate corrections in order to adapt the text to the characteristics of this journal.
  7. After awarding the Prize, the secretary of the Jury will proceed to open the sealed tender corresponding to the winner and the second prize, if it exits. The originals and sealed tender of the other reports will be destroyed.
  8. Participation implies total acceptance of the Rules of this Prize.
