May 19-20, 2017
University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada
We welcome individual papers or symposia on any topic in philosophy of the social sciences. For the 2017 Roundtable, we especially encourage contributions related to social norms and values, and their implications for social science and its applications. We will assemble a program of thematically related sessions so that intensive discussion can be the focus of the meeting.
Submissions
* To propose a paper or a symposium, prepare an extended abstract (500 words for a paper, 1,000 words for a
symposium) for submission through EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=possrt2017.
* Submission deadline: 30 January 2017.
Keynote Speaker
Cristina Bicchieri, S. J. Patterson Harvie Professor of Social Thought and Comparative Ethics, University of Pennsylvania in the Philosophy and Psychology Departments at the University of Pennsylvania, and director of the Philosophy, Politics and Economics program.
Accommodations
We will reserve a block of premium single rooms at Walter Gage Towers on UBC campus for the nights May 19th and 20th. These rooms consist of a private bedroom in four-bedroom apartment. Guests share a washroom, lounge with flat-panel TV, breakfast bar and kitchen. Complimentary coffee is included. These rooms are very affordable ($49 per night plus gratuity and tax). They are also short walking distance from the Roundtable site, close to cafés, and boast mountain
views and easy access to beaches.
Other accommodations are also available on UBC campus. These include West Coast Suites, adjacent to Walter Gage Towers, and Ponderosa Suites, both of which offer rooms with private kitchens and baths from about $140 per night. But if you are interested in one of these, be sure to book early as they tend to fill up fast.
