Flowers of evil - The Lancet
On Jan 28, 2009, a 39-year-old man and his 19-year-old fiancée, both of
South Asian origin, were admitted to hospital. They had collapsed 2 h
after eating a curry; they believed they had been poisoned. Both had
paraesthesia (perioral, before affecting the limbs), visual loss,
weakness, sweating, abdominal pain, and profuse vomiting. They could not
stand unaided. The man's symptoms started first, about 10 min after
eating. Vital signs and physical examination were normal. We treated our
patients with anti-emetics but vomiting continued.
