Chapter 48 – Treatments used in complementary and alternative medicine

Volume 35, 2014, Pages 889–898
A worldwide yearly survey of new data in adverse drug reactions and interactions

Abstract

The Side Effects of Drugs Annuals form a series of volumes in which the adverse effects of drugs and adverse reactions to them are surveyed. The series supplements the contents of Meyler’s Side Effects of Drugs: the International Encyclopedia of Adverse Drug Reactions and Interactions. This review of the 2011 publications on adverse reactions to treatments used in complementary and alternative medicine covers Chinese herbal medicines (Bupleurum dropping pill, Cervus and cucumis polypeptide injection, Jinshuibao capsule, Lianhuaqingwen capsule, Ropylgallate injection, Xiangdan injection, Xuesaitong tablet/injection, and Yinzhihuang injection), nutritional supplements, including bee pollen, specific plants (Arachis hypogaea, Centella asiatica, Chelidonium maius, Colchicum autumnale, Datura species, Euphorbia species, Fucus vesiculosus, Petasites hybridus, and Sophorae tonkinensis), and acupuncture, chiropractic, and moxibustion.
