Grow Wild shortlisted for National Lottery Award – vote now!

Grow Wild is the UK’s biggest ever wild flower campaign, bringing people together to transform local spaces with native, pollinator-friendly wild flowers and plants.

Grow Wild is the national outreach initiative of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew – engaging people outside the garden walls in why plants matter.

“Before there was nothing round here for people my age, but now they’re all getting together and volunteering,” says Carla from her Grow Wild community project in Northern Ireland.

With 232 community projects, and four large scale flagship sites across the UK, Grow Wild has brought neighbours together, provided opportunities for young people and helped to return native wild flowers to our landscapes. None of this would have been possible without the thousands of amazing volunteers who have worked together, sharing their time, resources, skills and enthusiasm, to make their communities better for everyone.

Bringing flowers to the people

By giving away native wild flower seeds for free to individuals and groups all over the UK, Grow Wild has covered 3.7 million square metres in wild flowers. That’s enough to cover a metre wide path stretching from Land’s End to John O’Groats…almost four times. Grow Wild brings flowers to the people!

Grow Wild’s Programme Manager Philip Turvil said ‘We’re thrilled to reach the National Lottery Awards final. Thanks to Lottery money, three million people have come together to transform their local spaces, bringing colour and wildlife to urban areas in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We’re hoping that people will support us now by voting. Receiving national recognition would be an incredible reward for everyone who has supported Grow Wild and been involved so far.’
