The International Society for Environmental Ethics (ISEE)
 will hold its Fourteenth Annual Meeting on Environmental Philosophy, June 1-4, 2017, at the Highlands Presbyterian Retreat Center in Allenspark, Colorado, USA. Come to the mountains and get their good tidings!

“Environmental Citizenship: Public Policy and Private Action
Keynote: Andrew Light
Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy, George Mason University

The ISEE invites proposals for individual papers and group sessions on any topic in environmental philosophy, broadly conceived. The theme for this year’s conference is “Environmental Citizenship: Public Policy and Private Action” though papers need not conform to this theme.

Instructions for Submissions:

• Submit 350-500 word abstracts for 20 minute papers (approx. 4,500 words), as well as proposals for multi-participant sessions, to both Benjamin Hale and Allen Thompson by 15 February, 2017.
• Please anonymize all paper abstracts (including PDF submissions).
• Please do not submit panels without a participation commitment from all proposed participants.
• If accepted, papers must be submitted to the conference committee and to the assigned respondent by April 20.

Format of Conference:

• As is our tradition, papers are pre-reads.
• Full papers will be available on the ISEE website one month prior to the conference.
• We ask all conference participants to read all of the papers before the conference, which are then summarized by a respondent – typically another conference participant.
• For the conference presentation, Papers will be summarized by respondents (10-15 minutes) at the conference rather than read in their entirety, in order to maximize time for discussion.
• Authors typically do not present their own papers, but rather only respond to comments.

About the Location:

Highlands Presbyterian Retreat Center is located one and a half hours from Denver just south of Long’s Peak, on the border of Rocky Mountain National Park. Accommodations and meals are reasonably priced, families are welcome, and recreational opportunities in the area abound.
