Dear friends:
I want to let you know about a new educational resource on the history of women's rights in Canada. It will be of particular interest to teachers of women's and gender studies at the high school and intro university levels.
About Canada, Women's Rights is a book I've just written for Fernwood Publishing. It's part of their About Canada series, which introduces readers to social and political issues. The compact reader (at 5 x 7 inches, 234 pp) is suitable for high school and introductory university students. It also makes a handy history reference for women's centre libraries, people who do training on feminist issues, and will be of interest to general feminist readers.
Here's a snippet from the book jacket:
"About Canada: Women's Rights introduces readers to just some of the many women who changed Canada through their efforts to end discrimination and to promote social justice. While a few are well known, many of these women and the battles they won have been forgotten. This book aims to ensure they have a greater place in Canada's history."
Exam copies can be ordered for educators through Fernwood:

Individual copies are available through Herizons website.

Thanks and I hope you're having a great summer!
