Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarships
The Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarships offer funding for postgraduate students to work on projects that will benefit Kew.The scholarship
Established in 2002 for the specific purpose of funding post-graduate students in the arts and sciences, the Amar-Franses and Foster-Jenkins Trust generously makes annual awards for post graduate botanical research via Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarships. Awards are given either for academic fees or for the cost of carrying out research projects. While there is no restriction on the nature of the projects undertaken, they must be part of the applicant’s post graduate qualification work and support Kew’s aims.Applications open for the 2016 Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarships
This call is for applications in 2016. Kew scientists will need the support of their line manager or head of department. Other applicants must also have the support of a Kew scientist.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have a viable postgraduate project that furthers the mission of Kew Science: to document and understand global plant and fungal diversity and its uses, bringing authoritative expertise to bear on the critical challenges facing humanity today. The Trust is particularly keen to encourage applicants who are finding it difficult to secure funding from other sources and in a position where a grant would make a significant contribution to their studies.
Grant applications must be made on the Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarship application form and sent to Kristin Martin at kristin.martin@kew.org. The closing date for applications is 15 February 2016. Applicants will learn whether they have been successful or not by 30 April 2016.
The Emily Holmes Memorial Scholarships are administered by the Foundation and Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Registered Charity No. 803428.
